This painting was produced at the beginning of 2021 when we were still in full lockdown during the Covid pandemic. It symbolizes the strength many had of standing strong in the face of huge challenges and adverse circumstances. The collaged bear shows the real threat many were facing and next to a delicate pelican, it seems very threatening. But the pelican sits in peace, standing strong in the face of adversity. His hope shines brighter than everything else and is a light to many others.

This painting is meant to celebrate many of the unsung heroes who didn´t let fear or the uncertainty of the events rule and dictate their attitude and strength.

I saw this flamingo and wanted to paint it in a dreamy scene. For me, flamingos represent beauty, elegance, community, beautiful far away places, travel, discovery and in itself very dreamy fairytale landscapes. I collaged the girl reading a book underneath the flower. She represents being in a safe cosy and fun environment where one can dream and dreams can come true. The expansion of the flower over her head represents her thoughts blossoming and blooming, growing into this beautiful flamingo with the vibrant colours as her dreams become reality.
